industrial training as an integral part of higher education.

The first conference was held in Guangzhou in 1986 and hosted by South China University of Technology, then successively in Nanjing, Wuhan, Xi’an, Jinan, Beijing, Chongqing and Hong Kong.
In collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Southeast University will host the ninth conference in Nanjing in October 2009.

Nanjing

Lying on the south bank of the Yangtze River, Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, is one of the seven ancient cities of China. As the Capital City of ten Dynasties in the history of China, Nanjing was
gifted with a rich and diversified cultural and historical heritage.

Historical attractions of ancient and contemporary China include Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Taipin Heavenly Kingdom Palace, Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, Former President House, Yuhuatai Patriots Tomb, etc. They portrayed and highlighted some of the most significant historical incidents in China – from the last feudal dynasty ruled by the native Han people to the new Republic of China led by Dr Sun Yat-sen.

In addition to historical attractions, Nanjing is also famous for its memorials, museums and cultural and scenic sights including Qinhuai River, Confucius Temple, Zijinshan Observatory, Xuanwu Lake and Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall.

The short autumn time from October to mid-November is the best travel period for the city. The average temperature and humidity in October is 13 - 20°C and 35% respectively.
